Rufus The Lion in Red

This is Rufus.
I kept coming back to the idea of him standing still against that deep red. Not roaring or charging, just present. The colour felt like it belonged with him, warm and a bit fierce at the same time.
I worked loosely, letting the brush marks stay visible in the mane and the shadows. It felt more honest that way, like he didn’t need to be polished to hold your attention.
He’s waiting for the right home.
